12 Jan Dine Out Vancouver 2017
So happy to gather with a friendly group of passionate foodies and attend the 2017 Dine Out Vancouver Media Event together. This year is their 15th anniversary and I still remember the first dine out I attended more than a decade ago at C restaurant. Vancouver restaurant scene is getting much more vibrant now and many more restaurants are participating in this annual event. We did restaurant hopping this time together and tried 3 different menus from Italian to Fusion Vietnamese to Japanese.
My favourites were the pasta and hanger steak. Pasta was perfectly cooked and I can’t say to NO to squid ink pasta. I normally don’t order hanger steak but this was done just right, not too chewy nor lack of flavours. Finished with the warm decadent chocolate almond torte served with raspberry sorbet, what a divine dining experience. I have to mention the dining room is exceptionally chic and beautiful, it’s a perfect place for girls’ night out or date night.
I had no idea what to expect from modern Vietnamese cuisine and in fact it’s quite a surprise. My favourite was the Chicken Pomelo Salad below. It’s a modern twist to Hainanese Chicken Rice. It sort of tasted like Hainanese Chicken but nothing looked like it. Very nice presentation and also very interesting combination to go with deep fried rice crostini. Overall I like how the textures blended together nicely.
If you have seen my review on their Christmas menu, you know how much I loved their sablefish and Aburi sushi. Of course they are bringing back all these classics plus lobster tails on the Dine Out Menu. For tea and dessert lovers, the Hojicha ほうじ茶 mousse with white chocolate shortbread and ginger crumbles on the dinner menu looked aesthetically beautiful and tasted sensationally good.
Let me know if you have booked any restaurants this year and what’s your past experience in DoV too?
