17 Jul Le Pliage Cuir
It’s a last minute purchase, like last call hurry kind of purchase. I can reveal there’s no black or orange box or any luxury item I have brought back from Europe, and I wasn’t really looking into designer items this time. All I wanted is just French linen, and there’s another story to tell later.
I can tell you honestly I wasn’t drawn into any Longchamp nylon bags until I saw their laptop bags were on sale for 20% off in Printemps. It’s light and durable but I didn’t make up my mind because only pastel colors were included in the sale.
I was flipping through a sea of nylon bags and hoping to find the leather version of Le Pliage. The only on sale ones I found were in large size and neon bright colors, so I didn’t look any further because nothing else really appealed to me.
The Le Pliage Cuir has caught my attention for a while already. I like it’s low profile and classic, made with all leather, Also it comes with a removable shoulder strap that you can wear it in multiple styles.
It’s not until we were almost ready to get boarding at CDG airport, I still got a little time to window shop and I was browsing the relatively small Longchamp counter. Again, all customers were just flipping through the nylon bags (the pink/turquoise/blue were 20% off with no VAT) and nobody really cares about the leather bags section.
The Impulse
I was speaking to Will while another lady was picking up a regular priced Le Pliage Cuir from the shelf. So my natural behavior was to turn around facing the other side of shelving, I saw a folded dark brown Le Pliage Cuir sitting quietly on the shelf. I just picked it up and assumed it’s a regular priced item anyway because I have only seen bright colors were on sale so far.
Then I saw a 30% off tag!!! I was like really? Will whispered “Are you going to get it? the lady (same lady was holding the regular priced bag ) is eyeing on it?. I’m pretty sure she is going to grab it once you put it down”
I politely replied “Thank you honey, I’ll get it!!!”
It’s broadcasting last call when we were paying at the cashier. It comes into total of 234€. Retail price here is $480 before tax.
Will was making fun of me, “You are just 5 sec ahead of her and otherwise the bag is hers, not yours”
Alright, happy wife happy life and I have brought this gorgeous bag back home.
The Review
It’s very light and versatile, great for travel and work. Quality is superb when I compare to other leather bags in similar price range. Leather is supple and the colour looks rich and classy in person. I think the small size is comparable to a medium size nylon Le Pliage. It’s roomy and you can fit your everyday items plus iPad.
I would highly recommend this bag with $500 budget, it’s not a IT bag for sure but it’s good investment for everyday use. You can dress up and down and it’s going to be a great travel carry on also.
I will be doing another post of travel bags but I would definitely bring this next time with me on a trip.
PS. Nordstrom annual anniversary sale has a similar all leather style – Veau Foulonne for $225. Be hurry before it’s out of stock.
