20 Oct Morocco | Dar Seven Marrakech
You know there are places you just love so much and almost want to keep them to yourself only. Dar Seven in Marrakesh is definitely one of them. We were so exhausted after long hours of driving from the Sahara tour. I was so tired when we got dropped off at the edge of Medina in Marrakesh. To be honest I was grumpy when I had to get through the maze to the hotel’s entrance. Oh well that energy was completely changed once we were inside the courtyard. It’s just stunning….
Amal brought us fresh mint tea with some cookies upon checking in…such a nice way to settle down after long travel. We were also given a tour around the Riad and figured out we were the only ones staying in that night. We basically occupied the 3-storey Riad along with two nice gentlemen and one chef lady serving us. We were living like Royalty.
While Amal and Chef were preparing us the Moroccan dinner, we lounged in the living room area catching up emails. Amal decorated our table with white rose petals, lit up more candles and turned on some Jazz music for us. The moment was beyond AH-mazing. Tasteful interiors, impeccable details, friendly service…Dar Seven have it all. We have been to a handful of 5 star hotels and resorts, this place was not only on a par with but probably above some of those luxury hotels.
When I mean by details let me tell you why I think this place deserves a 5 star. Complimentary bottled water was everywhere in the room, including bathroom. Because they understand some guests would not be comfortable to brush their teeth with tap water in Morocco. Because they know guests don’t have to get up from bed to take a sip of water, they should be right on the bedside tables. Bulgari toiletries, fresh roses, welcome gift for guests were nice touches. They also provided guests with a mobile phone so we could reach concierge any time and didn’t have to worry about safety and getting lost in Medina. We were so well taken care of in every aspect. They arranged all sort of public transportation for us, tickets were delivered to our breakfast table in the morning before we headed out. They helped us with restaurant reservations, and always sent someone to bring us there right to the door.
If you read my post about Dar Roumana in Fez, it completely lacks of this level of details ….and they claim they are a luxury hotel…to me it makes no sense at all.
The Moroccan dinner at Dar Seven was spectacular and beyond my expectation. A 3 course dinner came with 3 kinds of appetizers, a delicious chicken tagine as main course and a delightful dessert to end the meal. It’s so good that we decided to order another dinner at the Riad on our last night of the trip. The breakfast they served was incredible with great selection of choices. You can order as much as you want on the list and have it at any time of the day.
It turned out to be the best accommodation in our entire trip and we almost wouldn’t want to leave this place.
