08 Jun Morocco | Prelude
“Far far away…lost in a land of spice and smoke, where clay roads curl toward the sun, we spend our days chasing the shadows of palaces and lassoing time before it takes off – ours is a journey of a life time.”
Nobody understood why I wanted to go to Morocco and most of them were assumed and probably mistaken Morocco for Monaco. I’m thrilled to hear one person recognized scenes from Games of Thrones were actually filmed in Morocco.
I’ll give you a little background and you may find Morocco doesn’t seem that “far far away”. You probably have seen Tagine pots from Le Creuset, embroidered poufs and textiles from West Elm, blanket scarves from Aritzia, Majorelle mint tea from Bellocq, and those super chic babouche slippers from Everlane, they are all inspired by Moroccan culture.
To me this seemingly far far away place is somewhat connected to my lifestyle and I eagerly want to find out more and get inspired.
How are the tiles made? How’s the Sahara like? What to expect from Hammam spa? What makes medina in Marrakech the UNESCO World’s Heritage? How to speak a few Arabic phrases?
Morocco is like a book and those who haven’t been there read only one page. I was also one of those. So I’m hoping to share my journey with you and please stay tuned for more….
