10 Jun Build | Our New Home
After years of waiting and planning, our house project finally kicked off. I will document the entire process as that’s my whole purpose to get this blog started at the beginning (If you are interested to check out my first post). Well the design stage took us way longer than expected, and my blog turned into lifestyle travel related instead.
It took us so long because we stayed in this place for 3 years trying to save it. We planned and submitted for renovation permit about 2 years ago but City just came back with some ridiculous limitations. Not only it’s expensive to renovate, it’s also not efficient to fix a poorly built house and it’s still not the way we wanted. Then we scrapped the idea of renovation and spent another full year to design a new house from scratch. We went through at least 5 draft plans before submitting the final one to City. Every time when William changed his mind and our plan.. I got headache immediately.. no more changes and just get it done please.
From when we bought the place til it got torn down… we are talking over 5 years!!! The last 3 years were chaos, I got no proper kitchen.. no dining table.. barely useable bathroom and laundry. At some point I thought I already gave this place up.
It’s TOUGH time but gosh we made it. Permit is approved after 5 months of waiting and now we are finally making progress. As you can see from the pictures below, our foundation is now completed and now ready for framing.
Hope to have you follow along our journey to build our new home.
