15 Mar Morocco | La Mamounia
Almost give up on finishing my travel diary in Morocco and promise I’m going to upload all the blog posts of Marrakech as soon as possible.
I find Marrakech is such an interesting place. You find the most down to earth local places in the Souk and the most over the top hotels right outside the Medina.
Moorish inspired La Mamounia has been featured on magazines and social media as one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. The property is massive, architecture and interiors are top notch…it’s not just a hotel, more or less like a Palace. Room rate per night is high but there are other offers you can choose to get that experience of living like a Royalty.
To get that similar royal experience, we came here for a day spa package. The package includes a massage or hammam, access to the pool and other spa facilities, also a lunch for
MAD1,500 = € 140/person. Just the lunch at the Michelin 2 starred restaurant Le Francais is well worth the price.
We started off with lunch at the French restaurant Le Francais and you can pick items from the a la carte menu which is a nice touch. We were dining on the outdoor patio surrounded by Palm and Banana trees. The 3 course lunch was excellent …the lobster, foie gras and the chocolate soufflé were all super delicious and I have no question why it’s a solid michelin starred restaurant with such great food quality, nice ambience and attentive service.
To burn some calories off before our massage, we walked around their meticulously cultivated gardens. Orange trees, olives trees along with varieties of different plants were everywhere along the walking path. What I like about this hotel is no matter how many tourists were there, we never had a feeling it’s crowded and messy. We could easily spend hours exploring beautiful hidden courtyards here and there.
Let’s be honest the massage was so so and I much prefer some deep pressure message. The spa facilities and indoor pool were spectacular though. We had the entire pool by ourselves and rarely seen any other guests.
Regardless I would recommend you give this legendary hotel a visit and get the day pass (€ 140/per) just like we did or pool pass ( € 60/per) to use their outdoor/indoor pools in the property.
