20 Jun Tea Party

Backtracking a bit to Spring season, a good friend/client of ours invited me to co-host an Afternoon Tea Party at her new home designed and built by my husband. I know it’s going to be a pleasure as the dining room has the perfect setting for such event. The Dining room has meticulously crafted white wood panelling at the bottom with classic English wallpaper on top.

Color brings Playfulness to any space. Most often one would try to bring similar elements together to achive a cohesive look and feel. Here, a bold and edgy multi-coloured chandelier by Bocci is used to Juxtapose a formal classic looking room. Doing so, it brought warm welcome and fun to overall setting, guests are relaxed and invited to share laughs and good food on the custom live edge dining table. The ambience was just stunning and elegant after everything being put together. Traditional design is not our usual practice, but glad that we’re given such opportunity to explore traditional interiors that mixes with modern touches.

The Decor

Nothing says Freshness more than some freshly cut flowers and we know just the place for it. Our near by Whole Foods Market always have abundance of fresh flowers arriving every weekend. I know Ranunculus was in season when the floral section is filled with it. The Fuchsia Roses were also stunningly beautiful. It was hard not to bring them all home. I’ve always been inspired by vintage decor so I thought I would try using my vintage looking water glasses as vases to see how it would turn out with the Ranunculus. We all find it extremely cute looking! As for the Fuchsia Roses, the host has the perfect crystal vase from Tiffany & Co. to dress the sophisticated Roses.

I’ve been to many places for afternoon tea but never hosted one before. Trying to be as authentic as possible, together we gathered antique Bone China from our friends and families to create a true traditional English Afternoon Tea experienceLittle touches like DIY mini menus, party flags, strawberries carved like rose petals, and colourful Kusmi tea tins as decor were keys to a personal and memorable event.

The Menu

I prepared the savory dishes and finger sandwiches while our girlfriends brought a platter of fresh oysters and pink bubbles. The sweets were store bought from Faubourg
