23 May Travel | Tranquil by the Lake
We made an unusual left turn on Lake Placid Road and wonder if we were going to the right direction. For the last 15 times we road-tripped to Whistler, we never made a left turn on this intersection as resorts reside on the right of Creekside. My first time finding there is such a hidden gem in Whistler – The Nita Lake Lodge sitting quietly by the glacier fed lake.
Cindy @theVancouverriteblog and I were invited to explore this serene property and celebrate the new re-launch of the Cure lounge & patio at Nita Lake Lodge. Vancouver based Architect Scott & Scott and interior designer Carol Scholz together refreshed the lounge design by juxtaposing contemporary elements of bold colours and clean lines with rustic Alpine lodge vibe and Douglas Fir wood details. The new renovated lounge also introduces a new extensive cocktail menu and my favourite one is Hemingway’s Daughter – a creative adopted recipe of Hemingway’s favourite cocktail Daiquiri. The taste is as intricate as it sounds – Pepper mint tea infused Wallflower Gin, maraschino liqueur, lime juice, grapefruit juice, rosé poured over house made grapefruit sorbet. Both visually and tastefully stunning! If you are interested to make this perfect summer drink, Rhiannon the bar manager at Cure Lounge has kindly shared the recipe with us and hope you can enjoy this beautiful cocktail at home too.
1.25oz Peppermint tea infused Wallflower Gin
.25oz Maraschino Liquer
1oz lime juice
1oz grapefruit juice
.5oz simple syrup
Simply shake ingredients above and pour over grapefruit sorbet with 2oz Gancia Brut Rose and edible wild flowers.
How much did we miss out every time in Whistler for the past 10 years? It’s only couple minutes away from the busy Whistler Blackcomb village packed with tourists… here casually grab a table with friends by the fireplace, by the bar and of course on the patio by the lake… and sipping the delicious cocktails crafted by the Bar Manager Rhiannon is much more a delightful experience.
I can totally see myself living in this space. The lake front suite faces gorgeous snowcapped mountains and water view. Colours are gradually changing when sun comes down… makes the most tranquil and beautiful backdrop that I will never get tired of watching everyday….#Slowlife. It can be hard to admit that I need to slow down and take a moment to myself. It’s been a long journey to start the house project and juggle between my day job and my blog/Instagram. That moment I’m standing on the patio, counting blessings from my friends and family to support what I love to do, feeling blessed to see this view and explore this place with incredible people.
It’s fun to spend the weekend with Cindy who inspires me in both my blogging and everyday life with her great energy and kind personality. She is the one who keeps me moving forward when I get that blogger burnt out. I’m truly blessed that we are not only “following” each other’s life on Instagram, but we become real friends in real life. Throwback to the moment we sat at Cure….chatting about how beautiful this place is …dreaming of New York Fashion Week and making fun of our Instagram husbands. I just can’t wait to have more fun adventures with this babe in the future.
