03 Jun Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

Where we stayed?

Months before coming to Bangkok when I was doing my research, my friends suggested me to stay in a nice hotel because the upscale hotels are relatively better in value when comparing to other popular destinations in North America and Europe.  I have to agree 100% to what they said, and today I am going to share my experience staying with Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.

The hotel located in the heart of Bangkok was just opened last year in 2018, it’s also Waldorf Astoria’s latest footprint in Southeast Asia. The location is excellent, a few mins walk to Chit Lom BTS, Ratchadamri and main shopping strip with Siam Paragon, Central World and Super Big C. The closest night market is Talad Neon and it’s only about 15mins walk away.

We stayed at the King Deluxe Park View with an amazing view overlooking the city. It gave such a wow factor when the curtains opened up automatically as soon as we walked in and the floor to ceiling view was just brought to ours. There were 2 monitors, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom to control light switches, TV and other smart features.

Room size is very decent, with a small but functional area that we could work or lounge. The mini bar is one of the nicest one I have seen in a hotel room and every corner is stocked with paper packed drink water which is also a nice touch.

The full-sized closet is more than what we need and one thing I really appreciate the most is that double sink bathroom! The bathroom was so classy decorated with neutral marble and bronze accents. You will see the bronze element throughout the entire hotel’s interiors as it’s a signature accent that resembles the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Rooftop Pool

We spent most of our time in the hotel by the pool. The pool is not big but never packed during our stay. We got to have our own day bed every time when we were there. Staff were all super attentive to bring out towels, water and fruits to us every time. I would suggest you come to the pool at least twice, both day and night. The view is spectacular at night with the lights up and something you shouldn’t be missed.

Bar and Restaurants

Every morning we started our day with buffet breakfast at the Brasserie. The buffet offered a wide selection of French pastries, fresh exotic fruits, cold cuts, Asian food and made to order egg benedict etc. My choice of breakfast would be French Toast, green detox smoothie and a plate of fresh mangoes!

I also enjoyed watching sunset at the Loft on top of the building. Even though the bar is not exactly on a rooftop but the New York inspired bar still has an awesome vibe and the drinks were delicious!

There are a handful of bespoke bars and restaurants but we haven’t had a chance to try them all, but I’m sure we will return in the future to try the afternoon tea at the Peacock Alley and also the champagne bar. Tell me if you get a chance to visit, it’s really fun to figure out the secret door to enter the bar!

Service and Amenities

I can’t be happier with the most amazing service during our stay. All the staff came to our needs promptly by helping us with all sorts of questions, spa booking and late checkouts. You probably think for a top tier brand from Hilton that’s not a surprising thing to impress the guests. Let me tell you about my experience. One day we bought some mangosteen from a market and left some on the table in our room. The next day when we returned to the hotel we saw a plate of fresh mangosteen brought to our room from the housekeeper. How sweet was that?

Overall we are very impressed with the hospitality at this hotel, everyone is so professional yet friendly. I wish we could stay in Bangkok longer next time and for sure we will be staying with Waldorf Astoria.
